Ūkanose

Bands carrying Baltic and national motifs, exalting pagan times and the folk side of creativity have always held an important place in the Lithuanian metal scene. ŪKANOSE carries these traditions forward, having chosen folk metal as its means of expression. Now in its second decade, the band is often called the flagship of Lithuania's heavy folk scene and draws some of the biggest crowds at festivals.
The music of ŪKANOSE is epic and majestic, combining elements of traditional folk singing with a heavy, guitar-driven sound. As befits the genre, it is woven with folk instrument parts that lend the music playfulness and national colour. The band masterfully revives old Lithuanian folk songs by arranging them in a metal style – urging fellow Lithuanians not to forget their roots and traditions, while introducing foreigners to a distinctive Baltic culture.
An ŪKANOSE performance is not just a melodic, captivating musical show, but also dance, energy, a look into native history and ancestors, and pride in who we are. The band's songs range from mighty war songs to sutartinės – traditional Lithuanian polyphonic songs – about humanity's bond with nature, and of course rowdy party songs, so everyone can find something to their liking in the band's repertoire.
